WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) – Wisconsin voters have spoken, and a 2020 rematch appears to be inevitable as both former President Trump and President Biden walked away with their respective primaries in the Badger State.
According to the New York Times, with 56% of the vote reporting, Trump defeated Nikki Haley and the rest of the field by a wide margin of over 200,000 votes, while Biden won by over 200,00 votes with 57% of the vote reporting.
Meanwhile, voters approved both of the state’s ballot questions, one of which will amend the state constitution to ban private funding of elections, such as “Zuckerbucks” that were made to election offices in 2020, and the other will add language to the state constitution saying that “only election officials designated by law” can administer elections.
The Wisconsin GOP spoke about the questions passing in a statement saying, “Victory! Wisconsin has spoken and the message is clear: elections belong to voters, not out-of-state billionaires. Thanks to the efforts by the Republican Party of Wisconsin and grassroots organizing, Wisconsinites have turned the page on Zuckerbucks and secured our elections from dark money donors.”
