GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers will host their first running back for an official visit this draft season, former Kentucky star Ray Davis.
After transferring from Vanderbilt, Davis played 12 games at Kentucky as a fifth-year senior in 2023, rushing for an incredible 1063 yards on 185 rushes for an average of 5.7 yards per carry, 13 touchdowns, and one fumble. He also recorded 28 receptions for an impressive 318 yards in the passing game.
According to scouts from NFL Draft Buzz, Davis has a powerful running style and is effective in breaking tackles and gaining yards after contact. He also possesses reliable pass-catcher abilities with solid route-running capabilities, but he lacks top-tier breakaway speed, which may limit big-play ability, and his limited exposure to top-tier competition raises questions about his NFL transition.
The Packers have met with several of the draft’s top running backs, including Florida State’s Trey Benson, Notre Dame’s Audric Estime, Texas’s Jonathon Brooks, Wisconsin’s Braelon Allen, and Utah’s safety/running back Sione Vaki at the NFL draft combine.
