GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers are moving closer to locking up their franchise quarterback with a new long-term deal.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler who reported on the deal during an appearance on SportsCenter on Sunday, “The Packers are committed to getting something done with Love. He got the proof of concept last year with the big season, so they believe he’s their future. This could heat up after the draft. He’s due to make around $10 million next year. He signed a one-year bridge deal last offseason; should be a lot bigger, putting him somewhere probably in the top-10 highest-paid passers.”
To rank among the top ten highest-paid quarterbacks in the league, Love will need to earn more than $40 million per year and he is likely to earn around $50 million per year when it’s all said and done.
Love is coming off a strong 2023 season where he threw for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns while not missing any of the team’s games as a first-year starter and will open the 2024 season with the 7th best betting odds to win NFL MVP.
