WAUPACA CO, Wis. (WAOW-WSAU)– Residents in Waupaca can now contact 911 via text message in an emergency.
This week the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office announced that the ‘Text to 911’ service is now available in the county.
Waupaca County Sheriff Captain Kevin Studzinski said that this will give people another outlet to people who are unable to call.
” The Texting 911 Service is a great option when people either have a hearing or speech disability or when making a voice call would put their safety in danger,” said Studzinski.
Studzinsk also explained that calling 911 is still the fastest way to get a response.
If you text 911, Studzinski reminds people to state the full severity of the emergency along with your location.
