MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The Wisconsin Badgers rebuild is officially underway, as head coach Greg Gard has landed his second top transfer target this week in former Northern Illinois guard Xavier Amos.
According to BadgerBlitz, only a matter of hours after receiving the news that former Central Arkansas guard Camren Hunter was committing to the Badgers, Amos made his commitment to Gard and the Badgers, creating what could be one of the more athletic duos in the Big Ten. Amos chose Wisconsin over several notable programs such as Kansas, Texas, and Virginia.
With just center Steven Crowl returning with starting experience, Wisconsin’s frontcourt replaced starter forwards Tyler Wahl (who graduated) and A.J. Storr (who transferred to Kansas). The 6-8, 215-pound Amos will provide instant assistance to the team after finishing the 2023 season with the Huskies shooting 49.6 percent from the field and 38% from three, averaging 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds in slightly over 30 minutes per game last season.
