CHICAGO, IL (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers continued their comeback ways by erasing a 1-0 deficit with a three-run eighth to complete a 3-1 win over the Cubs on Friday afternoon at Wrigley.
William Contreras, Willy Adames, and Jake Bauers each singled to bring home a run in the inning. Brice Turang finished 2-4 with two strikeouts, the only Brewer with multiple hits for the game.
Joe Ross went six innings and allowed six hits and one earned run in the start. Elvis Peguero pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win. Trevor Megill finished the game in the 9th for his second save of the season.
Chicago’s lone run came off a solo homer from Christopher Morel in the sixth.
It was the first meeting of the season between the two teams and Milwaukee’s first win over their former Manager Craig Counsell who left the team last off-season for a lucrative deal with the Cubs.
