WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man who missed a court appearance earlier this week, leading a judge to issue a bench warrant, appeared in court earlier today.
Jason Olerich was in court Thursday afternoon where a judge increased his bond after hearing a statement from his attorney. Olerich missed a scheduled hearing on Tuesday leading a judge to issue the warrant. Court records show that was quashed, or canceled, on Wednesday.
During Thursday’s hearing his bond was increased to $10,000 with the first $2,500 posted in cash. Olerich put the money down and will return to court on May 31st for a jury status hearing. A one-day trial is scheduled for June 18th.
The 41-year-old is accused of communicating with an undercover officer posing as a 15-year-old girl on social media. Olerich arranged to meet the officer for a night of drug use and sex despite numerous reminders that the officer was posing as a minor.
Olerich was arrested at the arranged pick-up point with drugs, condoms, and drug paraphernalia.
Charges against him include using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and child enticement. He also faces a pair of drug-related charges.
He faces up to 70 years in prison and thousands in fines if found guilty.
