MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers got off to a good start at the plate on Wednesday and refused to look back, powering their way past the Pittsburgh Pirates 10-2.
Milwaukee was once led offensively by their red-hot catcher, William Contreras, who knocked in four RBIs on three hits, and rookie Jackson Chourio got back in the groove of things, hitting a two-run home run and scoring twice on the day. Chourio is now just the fourth MLB player in history to have five home runs and five stolen bases in his 39 career games at age 20 or younger since 1901, joining Fernando Tatis Jr. (2019), Carlos Correa (2015), and Ken Griffey Jr. (1989).

The Brewers also got another strong outing from top prospect Robert Gasser, who earned his second career MLB win by giving up just one earned run and walking just one batter on the day. With the win, Gasser became the first pitcher in franchise history to win his first two MLB appearances.
Milwaukee now holds a two-game lead over the Chicago Cubs in the NL Central and will take Thursday off before heading out to Houston to face the Astros on Friday. Freddy Peralta will take the mound for the crew, while former Cy Young winner Justin Verlander gets the start for Houston. First pitch can be heard on WSAU at 7:10 p.m.
