GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Former Las Vegas Raiders running back and new Packers star Josh Jacobs told reporters on Wednesday that he’d like to play alongside one of his former Raiders teammates in Green Bay.
According to the Athletics’ Matt Schneidman, after Jacobs signed his four-year deal with the Packers this off-season, he texted star receiver and former Packer Davante Adams to see if he’d ever return to Green Bay, saying, “When I came out here… I sent him the little eyes emoji. I said, ‘You thinking about coming back?’ But man, he loved it.”
Adams is set to make $25.3 million this upcoming season, and with the Packers heavily investing in the receiver position over the last two years, it’s unlikely the team would have the money or roster space to make a deal work to bring Adams back to Green Bay. But in an interview with Raiders teammate Maxx Crosby back in April, Adams praised quarterback Jordan Love for his strong first season, saying, “I haven’t had the chance to truly sit down and talk with him. But I want to tell him at some point, ‘I definitely don’t regret changing, but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there was a way I could pull you over here and drag you with me, that would have been cool too.’ Because, obviously, we saw what he did at the end of the year. I don’t regret what I did, but, at the same time, it’s definitely something you look back on, like, ‘Damn, that boy’s kind of balling right now.”
Green Bay currently has the youngest team in the NFL, along with one of the youngest receiving cores, but that didn’t stop Love from having a massive 2023 season that included being in the top ten in QBR (62.1) and finishing second in the league in touchdowns at 32.
