MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are sending top prospect Robert Gasser to the 15-day IL (left flexor strain) and recalling a couple of well-known players to help fill in.
According to a post on X from the team, starting pitchers Aaron Ashby and Tobias Myers have been recalled from triple-A Nashville, and Ashby is expected to get the start for the Brewers on Wednesday afternoon as they look to get a win during their road series in Philadelphia.
Pitcher Janson Junk was also optioned to Triple-A Nashville in the moves to help create the needed roster space.
Gasser has been one of the Brewers’ better pitchers this season, going 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in five games started. During that span, Gasser gave up just eight runs in 28 innings pitched and walked only one batter. According to the Mayo Clinic, flexor strains can require up to six weeks of rehab, depending on their severity, with some mild strains clearing up in just one to two weeks.
Gasser’s injury is the latest in the pitching troubles Milwaukee has experienced so far this season, with starting pitchers such as D.L. Hall (knee), Wade Miley (elbow), closer Devin Williams (back), Joe Ross (back), and Jacob Junis (shoulder/head) all currently on the IL.
