MADISON, WI (WSAU) – Andrija Vukovic, a Serbian freshman center, has joined the Wisconsin Badgers.
According to the university, Vukovic, 19, arrives at Wisconsin having most recently played in the Basketball League of Serbia for KK Vršac, where he shot 66 percent from the floor and averaged 6.1 points and 2.5 rebounds per game.
Head Coach Greg Gard spoke about the signing and what it means for the program, saying, “We are excited to announce the addition of Andrija to our program. Since the conclusion of last season, our staff has been on a mission to find a big man to help our team going into next year. After watching all of the films, countless phone calls, and Zoom chats, we were fortunate to find such a tremendous player and person that will fit in perfectly with our program.”
The Badgers were looking at the transfer portal and other avenues to add more size at the position behind Steven Crowl and after missing out on forward EJ Walker to South Carolina, a player like Vukovic will give the Badgers some much-needed depth down low.
