PORT EDWARDS, WI (WSAU) — A 27-year-old Wisconsin Rapids man was treated and released after driving his vehicle off the road and into Nepko Lake.
Officers were called to the Nepko Lake bridge at 9 PM for a report of a vehicle that had crossed the center line and crashed through the fencing. The driver managed to get out of the vehicle and swim to shore.
He was identified as Jerry Mowery from Wisconsin Rapids. He was treated for minor injuries.
Officials believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. It’s unclear if Mowery will face charges.
