WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former behind-the-scenes Marathon County Sheriff’s Office worker has been given a deferred sentence after pleading no contest to sending a threatening message to a former employer and disorderly conduct.
Michael Evon pled no contest to the misdemeanor counts on Tuesday. Judge Michael Moran then deferred his judgment for one year. If the 45-year-old complies with the terms of the deferred judgment and isn’t charged with any new crimes, one of the misdemeanor counts will be dropped.
Investigators say he sent an expletive-filled message to the management team at the retail store where he worked as a loss prevention specialist. He was also accused of making inappropriate comments to female employees at the store, some of whom were teenagers.
As part of the plea deal, a felony count for false imprisonment was dismissed.
The charges in question did not happen at the Sheriff’s Office. After the accusations came to light he was put on leave and later terminated by the county.
