STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Mark Schoeberle, a former Stevens Point EMT, is facing three felony sexual assault charges.
The alleged actions are said to have taken place at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital around late March through early April of this year, as two female victims recalled Schoeberle inappropriately touching their breasts among other actions, according to a criminal complaint.
The criminal complaint states an investigation took place between the Stevens Point Police Department and the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department with Waupaca County taking the lead due to a conflict of interest according to Portage County District Attorney Cass Cousins.
Schoeberle had been with the Stevens Point Fire Department for many years, but retired on September 8, 2023, according to Fire Chief J.B. Moody.
The three charges are all second-degree sexual assault, with each carrying a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a maximum fine of $100,000.
The criminal complaint says Schoeberle had been an employee with Aspirus Stevens Point at the time of both instances.
Aspirus released the following statement: “In the interest of patient and employee safety, the involved individual was immediately removed from all employment duties. Law enforcement was promptly informed, and we are cooperating fully. Because of the ongoing investigation, it is not appropriate to comment further at this time. The individual is no longer employed with Aspirus.”
