WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Kronenwetter man found guilty of manufacturing and delivering fentanyl will spend two years in prison and four years on extended supervision.
Wyatt Gates was sentenced on Wednesday by Marathon County Judge Gregory Strasser to six years in the state prison system- including two years behind bars and four years on extended supervision.
Gates sold drugs to a man who passed out after ingesting them in 2023. Investigators say the substance tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, though the victim said he was told the drugs didn’t contain fentanyl. Gates was later identified as the seller, and officers were able to arrest him at his Kronenwetter home. They also found over 20 grams of meth and items used to measure and package drugs.
The 23-year-old has been under active supervision and has been in and out of the state prison system for probation violations. Court records show he was ordered back into custody following Wednesday’s sentencing.
