MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two people involved in a deadly crash on US 51 in the Town of Skanawan.
It started when an SUV driven by 20-year-old Alexia C Zuk of Crandon lost control of her vehicle and crossed the southbound lanes into the northbound lanes. A utility van, driven by 51-year-old George Rouman of Rhinelander struck her vehicle.
Both drivers had to be extracted from their vehicles. Rouman died at the scene.
Zuk was airlifted to a Wausau hospital where she was treated and released.
A dog that was riding in Zuk’s vehicle also died in the crash.
The incident closed a portion of US 51 North from about 11 PM Sunday through 7:45 AM Monday.
