MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Two nights after being the goat, Blake Perkins was the hero on Sunday as he threw out the tying run at the plate to end the game and helped the Brewers to a 5-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds at American Family Field.
The Reds lead 3-0 before the Brewers rallied with one run in the fifth, three in the 6th and one more in the 7th. Elly De La Cruz hit a homer in the 8th to cut the deficit to one.
The Brewers got a three run homer from Willy Adames. Christian Yelich and Jackson Chourio had the other RBIs.
Colin Rea picked up the win with six innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits with 6Ks and one walk. Trevor McGill got his 13th save with the help of Perkins throw.
The Brewers, now 42-19, travel to the west coast starting tonight vs the Los Angeles Angels. You can hear the game on WSAU…pre game show at 8pm.
