WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A suspect has been arrested in a hit-and-run involving a car that crashed into two bicyclists in Marathon County in early May.
Lt. Steven DeNovi of the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect is a 42-year-old man from Shiocton. “I just got done speaking with him and he told me he thought he hit a mailbox,” Lt. DeNovi said. Investigators said the suspect’s name will be released after his first court appearance.
On May 8, first responders were called to Plover River Road after a car drove into a man and woman who were biking. The woman suffered serious injuries and continues to recover.
Sheriff’s deputies said photos from home security cameras and tips made to Marathon County Crime Stoppers led to the arrest.
