MADISON, WI (WSAU) – The WBA Foundation Board will host its 34th statewide televised debate this fall between U.S. Senate candidates, including incumbent Tammy Baldwin and Republican challenger Eric Hovde.
According to a press release from the organization, both candidates have been invited and have agreed to participate in a debate on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m., hosted by WMTV-TV in Madison. Radio and television stations from across Wisconsin will participate in the production of the debate.
“I look forward to debating Sen. Baldwin and sharing my vision for addressing the critical challenges facing the people of Wisconsin,” Hovde said in the release. “Voters deserve transparency, and I appreciate WBA for organizing this debate and providing every Wisconsinite across the state the opportunity to hear my solutions to restore the American Dream.”
Baldwin also stated in the release that she’s excited to give voters a look at the choice they’ll have come November, saying, “I’m looking forward to the Wisconsin Broadcasters’ Association debate this fall so voters across the state can learn more about the work we’re doing together and the choice they have in this race.”
A Marquette Law School Poll conducted in April 2024 found that Baldwin led Hovde by 3 points, 51% to 48%, among registered voters, while a Quinnipiac University poll released in May 2024 showed Baldwin leading Hovde by 12 points, 54% to 42%, among registered voters.
