MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Bucks are hosting several of the 2024 NBA draft’s top big men as trade rumors continue to surround the franchise on the eve of the 2024 NBA Draft.
According to Hoops Hype’s draft workout tracker, the Bucks have hosted some big-name centers in recent weeks, including 7’5 Purdue star Zach Edey, 7’1 Indiana center Kel’el Ware, Marquette center Oso Ighodaro, and March Madness fan-favorite and North Carolina State power forward DJ Burns, who could be day-one replacements for Brook Lopez or Bobby Portis Jr. if a trade does end up getting done during this week’s NBA draft.
The Bucks currently own the 23rd and 33rd overall picks in Wednesday night’s draft, setting up the possibility that they take two of the big men or take a long-term backup point guard or shooting guard if they decide to move on from Pat Connaughton or not re-sign Malik Beasley, who Bleacher Report NBA insider Chris Haynes says will not be returning to the Bucks in 2024. Milwaukee has had a few notable official visits from guards like Duke’s Jared McCain, Marquette’s Tyler Kolek, Oakland sharpshooter and Pewaukee native Jack Gohlke, Minnesota’s Cam Christie, and UConn’s Tristen Newton, which shows that the Bucks are preparing for numerous possible outcomes for retooling their aging roster, which was the second oldest team in the NBA only behind the LA Clippers in 2023.
