MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The 4th inning provided all the excitement as Milwaukee defeated their northside rivals 4-2 on Friday.
All four runs came off the bat of Jackson Chourio who hit a grand slam, the team’s 3rd four-run homer in the past four games. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick, and Rhys Hoskins came home on the play.
Chourio was the only Brewer with multiple hits on the night. Andruw Monasterio added a double, finishing 1-3.
Colin Rea pitched 5.1 innings and allowed three hits and two earned runs while recording eight strikeouts. Elvis Peguero and Jared Koenig each recorded four outs to get the game to the 9th when Trevor Megill would shut the door for his 17th save of the season.
Milwaukee improves to 49-33 with the win, 11.5 games ahead of the Cubs who are in last place in the NL Central. Game two of the series is this afternoon, with coverage starting at 2:35 on WSAU.
