STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders held a rally at Pfiffner Pioneer Park in Stevens Point on Friday as part of his Building Working Class Power campaign.
A few minutes into his speech, Sanders shared his thoughts on the Thursday Presidential debate.
“I think the vast majority of the American people were distressed by what they saw,” said Sanders, according to WAOW TV. “In Donald Trump they saw a pathological liar who lied and lied and lied.”
He also commented on President Joe Biden’s performance, saying “I have to also be very honest with you and tell you that I think the President was not terribly articulate, to say the least. And he was not focused. He did not defend a very long record.”
Around 650 people attended the event. No protesters could be seen at Pfiffner Pioneer Park during Sanders’ visit.
Earlier this week, the Wisconsin GOP released a statement on Sanders’ Wisconsin campaign:
“With high costs continuing to plague the economy, the last person Wisconsinites want to hear from is tax and spend socialist Bernie Sanders. His presence in Wisconsin’s 1st district is a reminder to voters that he and Peter Barca have nothing to offer except higher taxes and more inflation.” —WisGOP Spokesperson Matt Fisher
