MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – Former top prospect Garrett Mitchell is returning to the Brewers after suffering a fractured finger back in March.
According to a post on X from the team, Mitchell, 25, will join the Brewers for their upcoming series against the Colorado Rockies, and infielder Tyler Black will be optioned down to Triple-A Nashville to make room on the 40-man roster. Infielder Owen Miller has also been designated for assignment by the team.
The Brewers will hope that Mitchell can help make their offense more consistent after he put up big numbers during his rehab assessment in Nashville. 314 with four home runs and 13 RBIs for the Sounds. Milwaukee has struggled at the plate in recent weeks despite their solid record hitting just .245 as a team’s collective ISO (Isolated Power) of just .102 was dead last in the big leagues for June.
