LOS ANGELES, CA (WSAU) — Rhys Hoskins hit a grand slam in the 4th inning but Will Smith stole the show with three homers in an 8-5 Dodger win on Friday.
Hoskins’ four-run blast was one of four hits on the night for the Brewers and part of a five-run fourth that gave them a brief 5-2 lead. Los Angeles got two back in the bottom of the frame on a two-run shot from Miguel Vargas.
The Dodgers put the game out of reach in the 8th.
Willy Adames, Jackson Chourio, and Brice Turang also recorded hits for the Crew. Hoskins was the only one with an extra-base hit.
Aaron Civale got the start and went five innings but didn’t factor in the decision. Elvis Peguero took the loss after he started the 8th inning but recorded just two outs, allowing three earned runs on one hit and two walks.
Game two of the series is this evening with coverage starting at 5:40 on WSAU.
