TOWN OF WILSON, WI (WSAU) — A three-vehicle crash closed a portion of US Highway 8 in Lincoln County on Monday.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, it started when a westbound vehicle was slowing down to make a left turn onto Honey Road at about 10:15 AM. Investigators say the trailing vehicle failed to slow down and rear-ended the first vehicle, pushing it into the eastbound lane.
The third vehicle was traveling east on Highway 8 and struck the first vehicle.
A total of four injuries were reported in the crash. One victim was flown to a Wausau-area hospital, the other two were taken by ambulance to Tomahawk. A fourth person reported no injuries.
Officers say distracted driving played a role in the crash.
A second crash occurred about 500 yards to the east on US Highway 8 in Oneida County as crews were finishing their investigation. The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office is investigating that incident, and as of Monday afternoon no details have been released.
