WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — After a brief cancelation last winter and then a quick revival weeks later, the Taste-N-Glow Ballon Festival returns to Stettin Friday and Saturday.
Vicki Fogue will serve as the Pilot Director for this year’s event and says it’s an opportunity to get close to a vehicle they wouldn’t otherwise see. “People appreciate [getting to] talk and interact with a pilot, find out the story behind the balloon. We will also have some tethered balloons [you can ride] for a fee. That’s a way people can get a taste of what it’s like to go hot air ballooning even if it just goes up 30 feet.”
This year’s event will feature two hand-painted balloons by Minnesota artist Charles Markert and some shaped balloons, which feature appendages or are shaped like a certain character.
The festival opens Friday at 11 AM and Saturday at 6 AM. Each night will end with a professional drone show at 10 PM. There will be limited parking on site along with hourly shuttles from several points in the Wausau area including Granite Peak, Stor-in-Dor, and the Weston Village Hall.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children with two-day passes also available. For the complete schedule including shuttle pickup points, click here.
