RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU) — The Rib Mountain Board of Trustees has approved the use of a secure absentee ballot dropbox for the upcoming Primary Election.
Village Clerk Lynnae Kolden says they already have a secure dropbox at Village Hall that empties into a locked office. Additionally, Kolden says she will be the only one with the key that opens the dropbox.
“I do feel like our dropbox is secure,” Kolden told the Village Board on Tuesday. “It is located in the front of our building and goes into a secure [office.]”
Kolden adds that the collection end of the dropbox is located in the Deputy Treasurer’s office, which will be locked every night for extra security. There is also video surveillance on the box according to Administrator Gaylene Rhoden.
The motion to allow the dropbox passed on a voice vote with some on the board noting that they don’t see a difference between using a dropbox and returning an absentee ballot through the US Postal Service.
Rib Mountain will begin in-person, absentee voting for the partisan primary on July 30th. Primary Election Day is August 13th.
