RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — An Oneida County resident has tested positive for Pertussis, commonly known as whooping cough.
According to a press release, the County Health Department was alerted to the positive test on Tuesday. They did not provide details regarding who tested positive or where they live.
Residents are being asked to monitor for symptoms including a strong cough that can become severe to the point of vomiting or shortness of breath. Other symptoms include sneezing, runny nose, and sore, watery eyes. Anyone showing these symptoms is being asked to stay home from work or events and speak to their healthcare provider.
Several cases of whooping cough have been reported in the Fox Valley and Green Bay areas.
