MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WSAU) — It was a succesful return from the All-Star break for the Milwaukee Brewers as they took two weekend games from the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Saturday it was a gritty 8-4 win in 12 innings and Sunday an 8-7 win in which all the Brewers runs came from the long ball.
Saturday saw the Brewers take a 3-1 in the 11th inning but with two outs former Brewer Carlos Santana tied the game with a two-run blast.
Milwaukee then exploded for five runs in the 12th, going 5-5 with men in scoring position.
Brice Turang had three RBIs in the game. William Contreras, Christian Yelich and Joey Ortiz had the others. Jeff Junis picked up the win despite giving up Santana’s home run.
On Sunday the teams traded leads all game before Rhys Hoskins broke a tie with a two run homer in the 8th inning.
Bakc-up catcher Eric Haase hit two home runs including a solo shot in the 9th that gave the Brewers their final victory margin.
Haase finished with three RBIs and Jackson Chourio also homered and had three RBIs.
Jared Koenig picked up the win and Trevor Megill notched his 19th save.
The Brewers, now 57-42, will be at Wrigley Field to being a series with the Cubs…pre game show at 6:30 on WSAU.
