GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Packers star quarterback Jordan Love is in Green Bay this week for the start of training camp but will not be joining the team on the field while he waits for a long-term contract extension to be finalized.
According to Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst, who confirmed that Love would not practice but is in the building and will participate in team meetings, the new deal is “close,” but “until we get that resolved, he (Love) will not be practicing.”
“We’ll get there. Hopefully, he won’t miss too much time,” Gutekunst continued as Love looks for a deal similar to what Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence received over this past year, totaling an average salary of $55 million a year with over $140 million fully guaranteed.
