INDIANAPOLIS, IN (WSAU) — The Wisconsin Badgers are slotted 7th in the Big Ten Conference Football Preseason Media Poll, conducted by Cleveland.com.
Ohio State received 21 of the 27 first-place votes in the poll to run away with the top spot. Newcomer Oregon was picked second with six first-place votes.
Penn State, defending National Champion Michigan, and Iowa rounded out the top five. Southern Cal was slotted at #6
Four of the six schools ranked ahead of the Badgers in the preseason poll are on UW’s 2024 schedule, with Ohio State and Michigan being the two they won’t face.
No Badgers were named preseason all-conference.
Wisconsin will open the season on Friday, August 30th at home against Western Michigan University. The Broncos were picked 7th in the Mid-American Conference preseason poll. They continue non-conference play with the University of South Dakota and Alabama in the weeks that follow.
The league also announced that the football championship game will remain at Lucas Oil Stadium through 2028. Commissioner Tony Peitti also shot down rumors of any further expansion by the league, saying the league is focused on the 18 schools they have after working last summer to add Oregon, Washington, USC, and UCLA from the PAC-12.
