KRONENWETTER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Village Administrator Peter Kampfer had only been in the role for a few months before he suddenly resigned on Friday.
In a board meeting on Monday, Village Board members making the choice to carry over administrative duties to Village President Chris Voll while they repost the job opening on their website. “Approval for Administrator, the Village President will fill that role per ordinance and policy of the village. And continue to inform in emergency situations and ensure the full board is informed in a timely basis,” said Trustee Kelly Coyle.
This makes Kampfer the 8th consecutive village admin or interim admin the village has seen in the past few years.
Dozens of resident filled the board room to voice their concerns. “When has it become wrong to have open discussions on policies that impact this village?” said one resident.
“I think it’s time for all of us, residents, trustees, and employees to start working together for the better of this village. There is a clear order, the employees report to the Village Administrator, the Administrator reports to the Village Board, and you guys report to us,” said a village resident.
Transparency and communication regarding a proposed ambulance service was also addressed. Kampfer cited ongoing disputes between himself and Fire Chief Theresa O’Brien over said ambulance service as part of the reason for his resignation. Allegations of O’Brien threatening to resign if her demands for the services were not met were brought up in the meeting, but not discussed further.
A proposed formation of a subcommittee for that ambulance service was voted down.
