WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – FBI Director Christopher Wray was on Capitol Hill testifying about the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump last week.
According to the New York Post, when asked about details about what the bureau has learned about Thomas Crooks so far, he said he came prepared to take Trump’s life by studying another infamous assassin, saying, “We’ve just in the last couple of days found that from our review… Analysis of a laptop that the investigation ties to the shooter reveals that on July 6, he did a Google search for “How far away was Oswald from Kennedy?”
“That’s a search that is obviously significant in terms of his state of mind. That is the same day that it appears that he registered for the Butler rally,” Wray continued.
An analysis conducted by law enforcement following the attempt found Crooks opened fire on the stage from 130 yards away, while Oswald successfully assassinated former President John F. Kennedy from 88 yards away from the former Texas School Book Depository.
Wray further told the House Judiciary Committee that on July 13, between 3:50 and 4 p.m., or almost two hours before Trump’s address started, Crooks controlled a drone about 200 yards from the main stage and was “live-streaming the footage,” while also having three “relatively crude” explosive devices in his vehicle that had the capability of being detonated remotely with a transmitter that was found in Crooks’ possession after he was killed by a Secret-Service Counter Sniper.
