GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – Packers head coach Matt LaFleur weighed in on quarterback Jordan Love’s upcoming contract extension before the team took the field for practice on Friday.
According to Packers.com’s Wes Hodkiewicz, LaFleur has “no update” on whether a deal will be signed soon as Love continues to attend team meetings but not participate in practice and the team gets set to practice in pads for the first time this off-season starting on Saturday.
LaFleur’s comments come as The Athletics’ Dianna Russini reported on Thursday that the two sides are “making progress” toward a deal but weren’t able to pin down a day or week when it could be finalized after stating earlier this week that the deal could “break any minute.”
General Manager Brian Gutekunst spoke about the discussions before camp started earlier this week, saying they understand “where he’s (Love) coming from” and the team would “like him to be out there” for practice.
