STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Five people are accused of helping a 32-year-old man wanted for attempted homicide charges hide out in an Amherst home.
Edward Deyo, Chrissy Miller, Brodee Voelker, Thomas Decarlo, and Brandon Laux are all accused of harboring or aiding a felon. Charges stem from a standoff between Jeffery Miller and multiple law enforcement agencies including teams from the Portage and Marathon County Sheriff’s offices.
Specifically, Deyo is accused of bringing Miller to the Amherst home after he fled from police in Sauk County- where he was accused of shooting at an officer during a traffic stop. Investigators confirmed that Miller and five others were inside the home, none of whom tried to get Miller to surrender or inform police where he was hiding.
Officers from multiple eventually set up a perimeter around the home and issued a shelter-in-place order for the neighborhood. The standoff lasted more than a day before officers found Miller dead in the home.
His cause of death has not been released. The State Department of Justice is investigating the incident, which is standard for such incidents
Deyo, Miller, Voelker, Decarlo, and Laux each face up to ten years in prison if found guilty of the charges. Court action against them is pending.
