MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — After adding reliever Nick Mears from Colorado over the weekend, the Milwaukee Brewers made a trade on Monday on the division that added another starting pitcher to the mix
The Brewers acquired Frankie Montas from the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Joey Wiemer and pitcher Jacob Junis.
The 31 year old Montas has made 19 starts for the Reds this season and has a 5.01 era. He’s playing on a one-year contract and would be a free-agent at the end of the season.
The Brewers also placed closer Trevor Megill on the 15 day IL with a lower back injury. He joins Bryan Hudson who also went on the IL a couple of days ago with a left oblique strain.
