WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Preparations continued Monday for the 156th annual Wisconsin Valley Fair at Marathon Park in Wausau.
Just like the exhibition areas, the midway, and the food vendors, the people in charge of the grandstand spent Monday putting the finishing touches on their space to get ready for opening day.
Those efforts at the grandstand are led by Jayson Entertainment Group, based out of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
“I think we’ve been up with this fair for just over 50 years,” said Steve Ward, who is now the main point of contact for the event, taking it over from Jimmy Jay, who recently retired.
Night Ranger is the opening act for the fair on Tuesday night. The concert is free with regular fair admission.
The rides on the fair midway open at 5pm tonight.
There’s no livestock on the fairgrounds for opening day. The animals and the animal judging begins on Wednesday.
