MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers dropped their three-game home series against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, falling 6-2 in the final game before heading on the road for a weekend series in Washington, D.C.
Milwaukee struggled at the plate as outfielder Jackson Chourio and catcher Gary Sanchez were the only Brewers to record multiple hits on Wednesday, leading to just one combined run scored, which came on a first-inning base hit by Sanchez that scored Chourio from third.
Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta put together one of his better outings this season, going six innings while allowing just two earned runs and striking out seven, but the game got away from Milwaukee when newly acquired reliever Nick Mears gave up back-to-back home runs to Matt Olson and Travis d’Arnaud in the 8th inning.
The Brewers will return to action on Friday night as newly acquired starter Frankie Montas takes the mound for the first time as a Brewer against Jake Irvin and the Nationals, with the first pitch scheduled for 5:45 p.m. on WSAU.
