WOOD COUNTY, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Local authorities assisted in rescuing a 64-year-old man whose car was carried away by the Yellow River after Thursday’s strong rainfall.
According to a statement from the Richfield Rural Fire Department, the incident occurred about 10 p.m. on Thursday when a park employee attempted to seal the gates at North Wood County Park to prevent anyone from crossing the Yellow River when his vehicle with him inside was pulled into the river.
Emergency responders were able to use a Rapid Development Craft to reach the victim and get him out of the vehicle. He was evaluated by EMS and then released with no injuries.
