GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers have confirmed that quarterback Jordan Love and other veteran players will play in Saturday’s first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.
Coach Matt LaFleur spoke about the decision after practice on Tuesday and said he feels that players benefit from both mental and physical preparation during preseason games saying, “Just going through, re-evaluating the last couple of years, when we’ve had guys not play, and last year having all the guys play, I thought it was beneficial for us early on, especially Week 1, just knocking the rust off.”
“We’ll be smart with them. I do think the preparation for getting ready for a game is invaluable. Why not use those opportunities,” LaFleur continued.
The Packers’ preseason begins this Saturday at 3:25 p.m. against the Browns. The team will also play the Denver Broncos on Sunday, August 18 at 7:00 p.m., and their first game at Lambeau Field this season when the Baltimore Ravens come to town on Saturday, August 24 at noon.
