ATLANTA, GA (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers put on an offensive show on Thursday afternoon as they powered their way to a series win over the Atlanta Braves with a 16-7 win.
The star of the game was former top prospect Jackson Chourio, who hit two home runs and knocked in four RBIs on the day, making him the youngest player in Brewers history (20 years and 150 days) to hit two home runs in the same game and the youngest player in MLB history to hit multiple home runs in a game since Vladimir Guerrero Jr. did it back in 2019. Since June 23rd, Chourio has been one of the most dominant hitters in the National League, with a .360 batting average, seven home runs, and 24 RBIs.
Other Brewers to participate in Thursday’s home run parade included catcher William Contreras, who hit a two-run home run in the top of the 1st inning; outfielder Garrett Mitchell, who hit a solo home run in the top of the second; shortstop Willy Adames, who hit a solo home run in the top of the 2nd; and Jake Bauers, who hit a two-run home run in the top of the 5th.
Elvis Peguero got the win for the Brewers as newly acquired starter Frankie Montas went four innings and only gave up three earned runs on two hits.
Milwaukee will return to action on Friday as they return home for a weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds, with Aaron Civale getting the start for the Brewers while the Reds will be starting Carson Spiers. The first pitch is set for 7:10 on WSAU.
