WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The Monk Botanical Gardens has opened the application process for its next Executive Director.
The candidate will be tasked with finding “additional ways to serve the greater Wausau community and be responsive to the needs of the Garden’s visitors, donors, and legacy of Robert W. Monk,” according to a press release from the Gardens.
“Monk Botanical Gardens continues to be a premiere destination in Wausau, and our staff, volunteers, and board of directors are incredibly excited about the future,” explained Paul David, President of the Monk Botanical Gardens Board of Directors, adding that the organization also is seeking more people to serve on the board. “Our leadership team recognizes the need to hear from additional community voices and looks forward to what these new board members and an Executive Director will bring to the table moving forward.”

This comes after former Executive Director Darcie Howard resigned earlier this spring. Her announcement came on the heels of sharp public backlash from the community following the facility’s brief name change to Wausau Botanic Garden. Howard’s last day was in July.
Those interested in applying for the position can find more information on the Gardens’ website.
