MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers are giving their new parking pass setup another try.
The team is testing the software for this week’s series with the Cleveland Guardians in the Molitor Lot, which allows fans to bypass the attendant and go directly to their parking spot, then use their smartphones to scan a QR code to either purchase parking or activate an already-purchased pass using their license plate number.
The new system uses license plate reader technology to match a vehicle with a pass.
The team announced the new procedures last winter, saying they would be in effect for the 2024 season. That lasted less than a week after the technology hit several snags including connectivity issues, forcing the team to revert to parking lot attendants either scanning QR codes for prepaid parking or taking payments, processes that can cause bottlenecks during peak parking times.
Again, the system is being used this weekend in the Molitor Lot. All other lots will continue to use parking attendants to scan passes. It’s unclear if the system will be rolled out in all lots later this season.
