KALAMAZOO, MI (WSAU) — The Kalamazoo Growlers walked it off in the fourteenth to take down the La Crosse Loggers 8-7 to claim the Northwoods League Baseball championship this week.
Lawson Knight ( Gardner-Webb University) went 1-for-3 scoring three times with one stolen base. Xavier Delgado (Barry University) collected two runs and one RBI. Brandon Sanchez (Collected two RBI. Elijah Ickes (University of Hawaii) went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two stolen bases. Ryan Kucherak (Northwestern) went 2-for-7 scoring twice with a double and one RBI. Gable Mitchell (University of Iowa) went 2-for-6 scoring twice with one RBI. Aaron Robertson (Central Washington University) threw a solid five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts allowing only two walks and one hit. Bryce Brassfield (St. Cloud State) earned the win throwing one scoreless innings allowing zero hits or walks.
It’s the 2nd league championship for Kalamazoo in the last three years.
The Growlers defeated Madison on Wednesday to win the Great Lakes Division title. La Crosse won the Great Plains Division by knocking off St. Cloud.
The 2025 Northwoods League schedule will be announced this winter.
