GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Packers continued to retool their roster on Wednesday, which included signing a new starting kicker as teams build their practice squads and add more depth to their roster.
According to Matt Schneidman of the Athletic, the Packers have claimed former Titans rookie kicker Brayden Narveson off waivers and are expected to cut Greg Joseph to make room on the 53-man roster. Narveson, who went undrafted out of North Carolina State this spring, made 6-of-7 field goal attempts (with one miss from 58 yards) and made both of his extra-point tries.
Narveson had a solid season for the Wolfpack in 2023, making all 38 extra point tries and 18 of 23 field goals. He also completed all 196 extra point attempts and scored 71 of 91 field goal attempts during his five seasons as a college player.
Meanwhile, Sean Clifford is returning to the Packers’ practice squad, according to Packers.com reporter Tom Silverstein, after being cut by Green Bay on Tuesday, while 7th-round pick Michael Pratt is heading to Tampa Bay after being claimed off of waivers by the Buccaneers on Wednesday afternoon. Newly acquired quarterback Malik Willis will serve as Jordan Love’s backup to begin the season after the Packers dealt a 2025 7th-round pick to the Titans to acquire him on Monday night.
Clifford, a fifth-round pick by the Packers in 2023, struggled during the preseason, completing only 22 of 43 of his pass attempts while fumbling twice and throwing one interception.
Other notable former Packers who were claimed elsewhere off of waivers included receiver Grant DuBose heading to the Miami Dolphins, safety Anthony Johnson Jr. going to the New York Giants, and guard Royce Newman joining Michael Pratt in Tampa Bay.
