GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) – The Green Bay Packers received good news on the injury front on Wednesday as they prepare to travel to Brazil for their Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
According to the team that finished their initial 53-man roster on Tuesday evening, rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd has avoided spending the first month of the season on IR as he’s spent most of the team’s training camp rehabbing a hamstring injury that he suffered against the Cleveland Browns earlier this month.
This move will help the Packers have extra depth at the position after A.J. Dillon was placed on season-ending IR after suffering his second stinger injury in the last nine months.
When asked if Lloyd would be ready to play against the Eagles, head coach Matt LaFleur responded, “TBD.” The next update on Lloyd will come when the team releases its initial injury report for Week 1 next week. If Lloyd is unable to be cleared before kickoff next Friday, second-year running back Emanual Wilson is expected to serve as Jacobs’ backup after making the Packers 53-man roster for the second straight year.
