MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers got a boost at the plate as well as on the mound on Thursday afternoon as the Brewers cruised past the San Francisco Giants 6-0.
Aaron Civale, who was acquired by Milwaukee from Tampa Bay earlier this summer, got the start and the win for the Brewers, pitching seven innings while striking out seven and not allowing an earned run before former top prospect Aaron Ashby came into the game to close it out, striking out three while also not allowing an earned run.
The Brewers were led offensively by rising star Jackson Chourio, who knocked in two more RBIs on Thursday, bringing his season total to 62 and recording at least one hit in five out of his last six games, while designated hitter William Contreras had two key hits and knocked in an RBI, and outfielder Garrett Mitchell hit his third home run of the season on a 2nd inning solo shot.
Milwaukee will return to action on Friday morning as they travel to Cincinnati for a doubleheader against the Reds, with the first pitch for game one between Colin Rea and Nick Martinez set for 11:40 on WSAU and the first pitch for game two at 5:40 on 93.9 The Game.
