MADISON, WI (WSAU) – A former NFL head coach is joining the Wisconsin Badgers coaching staff as they get ready to kick off their 2024 season against Western Michigan on Friday night.
The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman reported Thursday that former Jaguars and Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, 61, will join the staff as a senior advisor and assist head coach Luke Fickell on both sides of the ball this upcoming season. Del Rio and Fickell have had a long-standing relationship over the years, as the veteran coach was once Fickell’s strength and conditioning coach during his lone NFL season with the New Orleans Saints in 1997.
Outside of serving as head coach, Del Rio has also served as the defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos (2012–14), the Washington Commanders (2020–23), and the Carolina Panthers (2003).
