WASHINGTON D.C. (WSAU) – A new video released on Wednesday by journalist James O’Keefe revealed that the world’s most used search browser is indeed helping a presidential campaign this cycle.
The undercover O’Keefe Media Group journalist met with Google Growth Strategist Dakota Leazer, who said in a video that the company is “definitely coordinating” with the Harris campaign and further claimed that Google has been manipulating its search engine advertisements to support Kamala Harris’s quest for the presidency.
“Google was essentially promoting through its ads rhetoric that was very pro-Kamala,” Leazer stated in the video and continued by saying, “The advertisements seemed to link out to legitimate news publication sites. So, it seemed like it was an ad from PBS, but it was really an ad for the Kamala campaign.”
Leazer also spoke about how the company uses their algorithm to decide which side of the aisle is likely to be more “fearful” which helps the company earn extra revenue saying, “I think Google has a belief that one side will allow them to make more money. I think whatever demographic is most fearful is going to be the most profitable.”
Google was accused in recent weeks of excluding the assassination attempt on the life of former President Donald Trump from its autocomplete and favoring media stories that support Harris over those that support Trump, so this would not be the first time this cycle that the search engine has become embroiled in political discussions.
The Google representative attempted to deny his claims when questioned by James O’Keefe afterward and declined to comment before leaving. The full conversation with Leazer can be seen on the O’Keefe Media Group’s X page or James O’Keefe’s personal X page.
