LAS VEGAS, NV (WSAU) – One of the top receivers in Packers history has requested to be traded from Sin City as the organization continues to go throw a rebuild.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, wide receiver Devante Adams informed the Las Vegas Raiders that he would like to be traded elsewhere, though no deal is expected to be imminent.
Adams, who was traded by the Packers to Las Vegas back in March of 2022 after spending eight with Green Bay and finished with two first-team AP All-Pro honors and five Pro Bowl nominations during that span. After being acquired by the Raiders, he signed a five-year, $141.25-million contract deal, which made him the highest-paid receiver in NFL history. However, Rapoport also reported back in 2022 that Green Bay did offer Adams more than the $140 million figure, but Adams “didn’t want to be there (Green Bay)” anymore.
During an appearance on “I AM ATHLETE” back in 2023, Adams spoke about the trade that sent him to Las Vegas, saying the Packers’ offer was “south of $20 million” and didn’t come close to the $28 million a year he got from the Raiders. “Honestly, there was no bad blood,” Adams stated during the episode. “I still respect and talk to a lot of those guys over there… It was just a business decision that had to be made.”
Adams has praised Packers quarterback and former teammate Jordan Love during an episode of The Rush with Maxx Crosby. “At the time when I was [in Green Bay], I hadn’t necessarily seen enough to say this is for sure what I should do. But in hindsight—the kid is a f—ing baller, man. I’m so happy for him.”
“I haven’t really had a chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point like, ‘I definitely don’t regret changing [teams], but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there’s a way I could pull you over [to Las Vegas] and drag you with me, that would’ve been cool too,” Adams continued.
While it’s unlikely that Adams would return to Green Bay due to salary cap constrictions but after running back Josh Jacobs signed with the Packers, he texted Adams and asked, “You thinking about coming back?” and said he loved it.
Adams ranks fourth in career receiving yards (8,121) and second in career receptions (669) and touchdown catches (73) in the history of the Packers franchise.
